I'm a photographer based in Oregon, and I've always been drawn to photographs that feel like more than photographs.

I'm interested in people and the worlds they create around themselves—the places they live, the things they make, the cultures they carry with them, and the small moments that might otherwise disappear.

I grew up in the 80s, carrying disposable cameras around and taking photographs of myself and my friends. They were far from perfect photographs, but they captured something I still find important: what it felt like to be in that place, at that time, with those people.

I think that's probably why my work has taken me in a lot of different directions. Alongside The Style Eclectic, I work as a portrait, fine-art, editorial, and commercial photographer through Shimizu Photography. My work has been published internationally, including in Vogue, and I've had the opportunity to photograph artists, makers, creatives, and people with stories very different from my own.

All of that work has shaped the way I photograph weddings.

I'm not particularly interested in making every wedding look the same. I'm interested in discovering what makes yours yours. Some weddings are quiet and intimate. Others are full of energy and movement. I want to preserve both—the atmosphere, the people, and all the little things that make that particular day yours.

Not every moment needs to be exciting to be worth remembering.

The Style Eclectic is a collection of the things I'm curious about: people, places, travel, celebrations, quiet moments, and the beautiful things we don't always think to photograph.

I'm still discovering where it will take me.
